S & V · wedding at Five venues across Bangkok
Our first full Indian wedding: four days, five venues across Bangkok, and a Thai ceremony in the middle of it all.
Photo · @sunchaiphotographyS and V were the first couple to come to us for a full Indian wedding, and I had to be honest with them: I had never planned one. I had done Indian weddings that lasted a single day, and I knew how many details a full celebration would hold.
For some reason, they decided to trust me anyway.
It was a multi-day wedding. It began with a welcome dinner, then a day of Haldi and Sangeet. The next day was a Thai wedding ceremony, and the last day brought the Hindu ceremony, a dinner reception and an after-party.
We used five venues across Bangkok. S and V wanted their guests to see the city, even though they had come for a wedding: to feel like they were travelling, and to enjoy different food every day. We arranged transport throughout, so everyone could get around in comfort.
It’s an Indian wedding I’m truly proud of: tradition and a modern spirit, woven together just right. I think that’s why they chose us. They didn’t want to be held by the usual frame either.
By the end, V’s family were so happy with everything. I still keep in touch with his mother, who once even ran an online yoga class just for me. Such a lovely story, and I’m so grateful for it.
I’m glad I said yes, glad I stepped out of my comfort zone, and glad for all the new friendships. And I mean all: an Indian wedding works with two to three times as many vendors as a Thai–Western one. Ha!
